Find Financial Peace . . . Even In Tough Times
Financial troubles can be frightening. Whether you are worried about the economic situation in our nation or have been hit with a personal financial crisis, God’s Word offers instruction to help you.

Trust God. Know where your blessings come from–”Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all . . .” (1 Chronicles 29:12). Put your trust in God who gives you the power to get wealth, not other people. Be confident that God loves you and wants good things for you.

Value your faith. God wants to know that you value your faith more than your job, more than your bank account and more than your nest egg (1 Peter 1:6-7). Financial famine can be an opportunity for spiritual growth! Keep believing in God and applying His principles.

Fight for your family. Financial struggles can impact your family and even tear it apart. In fact, financial stress is one of the leading causes of divorce, but it doesn’t have to be. When you go through troubling times, guard against bitterness and resentment. Keep the communication lines open. Pray and work together to break through your situation.

Return to the Father’s house. When the prodigal son had spent all his wealth on pleasures of the world, he brought personal famine to his life. That is when he returned to his father’s home. Scripture says even though “. . . there arose a severe famine in that land . . .” (Luke 15:14), his father’s hired servants had “. . . bread enough and to spare . . .” (Luke 15:17). When you face famine in your life, return to the Father’s house. Continue worshiping and seeking God in His tabernacle.

Be practical. Be wise with the resources God has trusted to you. Learn to live within your means. Don’t spend what you don’t have. One of the best and most practical steps you can take to see success in your finances is to develop a budget . . . and stick to it! Do your best to pay off debts as quickly as possible.

Put God first. One of the most life-changing principles in God’s Word is that of “first things” or “first fruits.” Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). This is God’s priority and alignment for your life. Seek Him first! When you follow God’s commands for “first things”–to fast, pray and give Him your best–He will take care of your needs.

You don’t have to live in defeat! If you are struggling financially today, in God’s Word you will find provision and peace of mind in the midst of your greatest storm.
