Voice of Praise

MISSION STATEMENT
As the ministers of songs in Temple of Praise International Church, our goal is to always align our praise and worship with the vision of the church, found in the word of God in Habakkuk 2:14, which states that, “…the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters covers the sea.” We believe that we are created to worship the Lord God Almighty; and as such it is a huge privilege and a great honor to lead His people to His throne room through music and singing. For this reason, we are committed to making His praise excellent and glorious. “Our mission is to leave an imprint of His spirit on the hearts of people through praising and worshipping him, touching one soul at a time and drawing them closer to Jesus Christ.”

ABOUT US

Worship Leader

Pastor Wale Tychus serves as the church worship leader and pastor of the Voice of Praise Choir. He exemplifies worship through his life and is genuinely in love with the Lord and in always being in his presence. What makes “PWAL”, as he is fondly called desirable is his passion for Christ and his constant yearning for the sweet presence of Jehovah. He is a man of integrity, humble, and gentle in his ways. Wherever he preaches the word of God or ministers in songs, he is usually asked back by the local assembly. He is an inspiration to his choir, church and people he encounters. We all always look forward to his weekly exhortations on Friday nights before rehearsals. Pastor Wale is much loved and appreciated by his choir and church. In his words “I love the Lord with my whole being, and try to know him more each day. It’s my privilege and life’s goal to please him and lift up his name by living and not just singing worship.”

The Voice of Praise Choir Story

Voice of Praise Choir was birthed alongside the inception of Temple of Praise International Church in October 1998 in Laurel Maryland. Our pastor Apostle Nike Wilheims said that the choir would be as one voice singing praises to God. And after that prophetic utterance, the name of the church choir came to be. The choir consisted of three members at that time. Over the years the choir has grown to about 35 members comprising 16 Sopranos, 4 Tenors, 12 Altos and 3 Instrumentalists.
Genuine and sincere love for Christ emanates through every song we sing, expressed with heartfelt emotions. Our ministry prioritizes discipline and commitment to excellence. All rehearsal sessions begin and end with prayer and intense worship. Practices are held two days a week (Wednesdays and Fridays). We wholly depend on God for inspiration and grace and through his might, live a consecrated life, because we believe that is what true worship is about – Romans 12:1-2. VOP has appeared on radio and television broadcasts on D.C. Cable TV and Montgomery County Cable TV and have also been guest ministers at several churches, concerts and events in the Washington Metropolitan Area and out of state. Churches where the choir have been regular guests include Greater Mount Calvary Washington D.C., Bethel World Outreach, Free Gospel Deliverance Temple D.C. and many others.

The choir has participated in various studio recording sessions and holds annual exciting Christmas and Easter concerts, and has also ministered alongside African gospel artists like Mike Aremu, Sammie Okposo, Gbenga Owoeye-Wise, Paul Irabor to mention a few.Ultimately, our goal as ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ is to spread the word of the Lord through songs and to win souls for His Kingdom by leading people to His throne room of grace.
